About the Position

The College of Nursing is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator, Sr. to join our Flagstaff team! This position oversees academic programs based in Flagstaff and serves as the lead Academic Program Coordinator for the College . Key responsibilities include maintaining operational excellence, supporting effective enrollment management by collaborating with Academic Program Coordinators across all campus locations, and ensuring a high level of student satisfaction with admission and enrollment services. This role also serves as a senior-level resource and primary point of contact for Academic Program Coordinators throughout the College of Nursing.

Responsibilities Include

Program Coordination - 50%

  • Acts as main point of contact for program participants and other program stakeholders or constituents, including telephone and email communications, answers questions regarding the program.
  • Provides assistance and information to students, the general public and Executive Leadership and statewide Academic Program Coordinators; confers with potential transfer students regarding transferability of credits and admissions information.
  • Interprets and explains college, department, and university policies; refers students to academic advisors as necessary.
  • Communicates with students regarding academic and curricular expectations of the Nursing Program and procedural items. This may require any of the following actions: advisement, removal of advisement holds, assistance with enrollment, completion of forms, data research, problem solving, directing to appropriate staff or faculty.
  • Researches, summarizes, and analyzes information regarding program participation; calculates statistics and compiles data to prepare special and/or recurring reports.
  • Assists in the development of program content; monitors program metrics and performance; maintains operation of the program.
  • Delivers to potential students and clinical partners presentations to communicate information about the program(s), including information sessions.
  • Trains and advises others on program guidelines and details.

Lead Admissions Support - 25%

  • Provides broad oversight to all College of Nursing admissions processes.
  • Leads the admissions decision-making process and meetings.
  • Applies advanced knowledge to educate prospective students and parents on the benefits of attending NAU, interviewing individual students, conducting campus tours, and ensuring continued communication from the application process and beyond to enrollment and into the first semester.
  • Guides students and parents from start to finish through the entire application and enrollment cycle.
  • Provides information related to enrollment timelines, program requirements, transfer credits, payment options, application status, etc.
  • Collaborates with advising units regarding problems, consults with faculty and staff for clarification of requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison for program to potential or current students, staff, faculty, or external stakeholders or constituents.
  • Trains and advises Academic Program Coordinator, Intermediates on College of Nursing admissions practices.
  • Makes recommendations for changes/improvements to admission criteria, policies and procedures.

Administrative Support - 20%

  • Maintains records of program participants and program data, which may include inputting or updating data in a database.
  • Distributes, collects, processes and maintains up-to-date forms and documents related to the program(s).
  • Responsible for event coordination in relation to the Flagstaff Mountain Campus (tours, events ).
  • Schedules and participates in meetings or committees on behalf of the program(s).
  • Performs a variety of administrative support activities such as composing replies to correspondence on own initiative, interpreting and explaining established policy and procedure in response to inquiries from a variety of sources, summarizing reports and information and investigating, evaluating, and resolving problems within scope of position.
  • Assist with covering nursing department main phone line, email and office when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with NAU internal systems and practices.

  • Mainly works independently and has latitude with decision making about matters of significance; may receive general instruction and clarification on complex problems.

Compensation

Salary range begins at $51,085. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


Pre-Employment Check

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
