The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 40 permanent faculty and offers Bachelors’ degrees in mathematics, secondary education in mathematics, and data science; Masters’ degrees in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics; and a graduate certificate in applied statistics. About the Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Northern Arizona University (NAU) seeks dynamic and innovative teachers for two Visiting Lecturer positions beginning August 17, 2026. The successful applicants will further NAU’s commitment to promoting student success in teaching a breadth of mathematics or statistics courses. Other responsibilities include providing service to the department. This is a 9-month non-renewable position.

Responsibilities Include
  • Instructional duties will include planning, assessment, and collaboration with peers in instructing lower-division mathematics courses (e.g., Calculus) or entry-level statistics courses (e.g., Applied Statistics). The expected teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
  • Other responsibilities include providing service to the Department and University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in mathematics (or in a closely related field) conferred by August 17, 2026.
  • Teaching experience at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Master’s degree at the time of application.
  • Strong academic record in mathematics coursework.
  • A record of teaching at the college level that includes being the instructor of record for at least two different mathematics courses.
  • Evidence of high-quality teaching and commitment to student success.
  • Ability to teach a wide variety of courses.

Compensation

Budgeted salary is $60,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
