About the Department/College

The Office of Inclusion transforms the student experience through thoughtful events, spaces, and resources that foster and embrace alliances and community connections. The Office of Inclusion is in the Division of Student Affairs and is located in the University Union Fieldhouse on the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus.


About the Position

The Program Manager for Community drives the development and management of events and programs for the Office of Inclusion and administers the program budget and staffing requirements to ensure the program meets detailed objectives.

Responsibilities Include

40% - Programming and Services

  • Plans, develops, and facilitates programs, events, and activities which may include: identifying learning outcomes and purpose of each event, managing event logistics, and managing post-event assessments and metrics.
  • Manages the organization of the Office of Inclusion annual calendar of programs, events, and activities as well as attend office and university events throughout the year.
  • Works with a Graduate Assistant and Student Affairs Strategic Initiatives (SASI) Communications Team to create marketing materials.
  • Provides guidance for social media related to programs and events.
  • Provides direct support and resources to students while creating a safe space and environment for walk-ins and student interactions.
  • Works closely with the Office of Inclusion team to create a comprehensive programming calendar that highlights, celebrates, and honors student communities.

25% - Administrative and Assessment

  • Manages the Office of Inclusion programming calendar.
  • Monitors engagement of students through event attendance, personal contacts, referrals, etc. Develops, implements, and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Maintains the inventory of event supplies, office supplies, and equipment. Maintains a program budget.
  • Maintains department related data used to conduct research and evaluate program effectiveness Works with the Assistant Director, Operations, to create reports on student engagement and trends.
  • Maintains student files, databases, and records in accordance with federal guidelines (FERPA).

15% - Supervision

  • Leads and participates in the hiring, onboarding, and training of professional, graduate student, and student staff.
  • Supervises a Graduate Assistant and provides guidance to student employees.
  • Provides guidance to the social media team related to building community through events. Manages staff performance and provides continuous feedback and guidance.

5% - Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Collaborates and participates in programming with university administrators, faculty, and staff on various committees and projects to improve the student experience.
  • Builds effective working relationships with partners and liaisons across campus in support of all Office of Inclusion students and programs.

10% - Consult

  • Serve as the office liaison and subject matter expert on student success, knowledge, and trends for target populations.

5% - Other

  • Serve as the office liaison and subject matter expert on student success, knowledge, and trends for target populations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; and
  • 1-2 years of project management experience; and
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, implementation, and assessment.

  • Knowledge of organizational practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and major trends/issues facing students in higher education.

Compensation

Budgeted salary is $67,714. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


Pre-Employment Check

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
