CHER is a vibrant research center at Northern Arizona University. Our staff and faculty focus on public health projects across the region and the nation, working closely with communities to improve workforce development efforts and create broader understanding of their public health challenges and achievements.
This individual will coordinate the Health First Foundation funded community-engaged research project, Supporting Tribal Autism Resources and Services (STARS). The STARS project will culturally adapt the evidenced-based education and training program, Parents Taking Action, for Hopi parents and educators of autistic children from fall 2026 to summer 2027.
The part-time research coordinator will be directly supervised by a principal investigator (PI), Dr. Olivia Lindly (Department of Health Sciences, College of Health and Human Services), and housed within the Center for Community Health and Engaged Research (CHER) at Northern Arizona University (NAU). The part-time research coordinator will also support and regularly communicate with the project’s other two PIs, Dr. Davis Henderson and Dr. Candi Running Bear. The roles of the coordinator involve facilitating daily research activities alongside the PIs and their Hopi Tribe collaborators. This position is in-person, with a possibility for some hybrid/remote work. The part-time research coordinator will need to complete certain tasks at the NAU Mountain Campus and be capable of traveling to community partner sites, including but not limited to Kykotsmovi and Tuba City, Arizona.

Hourly Rate is $31. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
