About the Position

The position of Manager, Social Media will lead and execute the implementation of the Strategic Enrollment and Marketing organic social media strategy to enhance brand awareness, prospective student and family engagement, and student enrollment. This position will oversee a team of social media professionals, manages social media production activities, and ensures the university’s online presence is impactful and aligned with our overall marketing goals. The selected individual will maintain and develop university brand tone and voice to ensure all messaging to all university audiences is consistently on-brand. This position will leverage enrollment marketing industry strategies to drive business results, will partner with SEM colleagues to deploy multichannel marketing strategies and meet social media deliverables. This position will partner with academic and administrative offices campus-wide to support social media presence across multiple platforms and will direct actions to advance methods in social media content production and identifies areas for growth and improvement.

Responsibilities Include

Brand Guidance and Budget Compliance - 50%

  • Applies planning, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating skills; applies baseline knowledge of employee regulations, policies, and procedures; demonstrates working knowledge of routine work applications.
  • Manage organic social media budgets (if relevant), ensuring effective allocation of resources and maximizing ROI.
  • Manages relationships with external vendors, agencies, and influencers.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant social media policies and regulations.
  • Oversees the production and curation of engaging and high-quality social media content across all relevant platforms.
  • Develops and implements social media crisis communication plans.
  • Establishes and maintains brand voice, tone, and guidelines across all social media platforms.

Strategy and Partnership - 35%

  • Plays an essential role in leading the implementation of social media strategies in day-to-day initiatives and project executions.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive multi-platform social media strategy that aligns with the organization’s marketing and business objectives.
  • Researches enrollment marketing social media trends and technologies, applies best and leading practice ideas to NAU social media pages.
  • Analyzes social media data and insights to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Execute the social media components of broader SEM recruitment marketing strategies.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for social media strategies with campus partners, including cabinet level members and the Office of the President.
  • Oversees social listening and community engagement efforts, addressing inquiries and managing online reputation.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with cross-functional teams and leadership levels with SEM to ensure integrated and consistent messaging.
  • Builds relationships with the Office of the President, Strategic Communications and Academic Affairs for helping to understand strategic insights for each group and facilitate smooth communications when developing and deploying social media related content.

Team Supervision – 10%

  • Leads use of social media management platform including team training and documentation of use protocols.
  • Leads and manages the social media team of full-time staff and student workers, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of social media initiatives and provides regular performance reports to senior leadership.

Other - 5%

  • Other duties as requested, relevant to overall team performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 1 year of management or supervisory experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in related field
  • 6 years of relevant experience
  • Higher Education experience
  • Experience with recruitment and enrollment marketing

Compensation

Salary range is $77,871 - 87,116. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


Pre-Employment Check

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
