About the Position

NAU’s division of Strategic Enrollment and Marketing (SEM) focuses on recruiting and enrolling students as the cornerstone of NAU’s mission. Working in SEM Analytics and Assessment, the Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior will help develop tools for strategic analysis and monitor key indicators regarding recruitment, marketing, financial aid, and enrollment to inform decisions, operations, and goals. The Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior, will work closely with other analysts and SEM leadership to apply knowledge of enrollment and marketing concepts, practice, and procedures to identify and meet departmental and divisional data needs.

Responsibilities Include

Data Analysis – 50%

  •  Extract, clean, and transform data from multiple sources—including Student Information System (PeopleSoft/Enterprise Reporting), CRM (Salesforce), and marketing platforms—to conduct analyses that inform departmental and divisional efforts
  •  Work closely with Strategic Enrollment and Marketing colleagues to determine data requirements, including outcome metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and align analyses with goals
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcome metrics to assess progress toward goals and identify improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with staff from other university departments and divisions to maintain and enhance enrollment forecasting methods
  • Promote a culture of evidence-based approaches and data-informed decision making

Enrollment and Marketing Strategy – 20%

  • Apply knowledge of enrollment and marketing concepts, practice, and procedures to perform complex analytics; identifies issues and solutions and works to improve existing processes
  • Serve as subject matter expert and specialize in developing, implementing, managing and evaluating various university systems, including Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Business Objects/Enterprise Reporting, Power BI/Tableau, PeopleSoft, etc, for the division
  • Work closely with division leaders to support partners affiliated with various functional areas

Marketing Analytics and Performance Reporting – 10%

  • Track and report on campaign performance across platforms, including email, SMS, print, and digital tactics, leveraging tools such as Marketing Cloud, UTMs, and internal dashboards
  • Deliver real-time insights and performance updates to support agile decision-making and strategic pivots
  • Provide weekly reporting summaries, contribute to reporting decks, and communicate performance insights via internal channels such as the Machine Campaign Channel
  • Collaborate with team members to embed measurement strategies and analytics considerations into campaign workflows
  • Contribute to the development of broader SEM analytics strategy, connecting campaign-level data to overall enrollment funnel performance and strategic goals

Dashboarding and Data Visualization – 10%

  • Create, maintain, and monitor complex dashboards and data visualizations using business intelligence and marketing platforms
  • Identify and effectively communicate trends and insights from dashboards and data visualizations in support of departmental and divisional objectives

Communication and Documentation – 5%

  • Maintains thoroughly documented and up-to-date procedural manual for common projects and annual reports
  • Collaborate with other Business Intelligence Analysts and Director of Analytics and Assessment to ensure projects are executed appropriately

Other – 5%

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 years of accounting or business experience.

*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience working in marketing, enrollment, communications, and/or recruitment
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud data extraction, analytics, and dashboard development
  • Experience designing SQL queries to extract data
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, particularly Power BI
  • Google Analytics 4 and Agency Analytics
  • UTM, QR Code, Friendly urls Analytics
  • Landing Pages Analytics, particularly Marketing Cloud
  • Digital paid media analytics
  • Familiarity with a statistical programming language
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Pipelines) or related Azure data services

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of routine business analysis tools and processes, including data gathering and forecasting methods
  • Advanced knowledge of enrollment and marketing business analysis tools and processes, including data compilation and reporting methods
  • Knowledge of business activity monitoring and electronic data processing.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis/reporting in higher education.

Compensation

Salary range is $67,714.00 - 75,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
