The Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering (CECMEE) contains twenty-one full-time faculty. We provide students with a well-rounded, personalized education in civil engineering, construction management, and environmental engineering; with an emphasis on producing baccalaureate students who are fully prepared for professional practice upon graduation. CECMEE offers bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in civil and environmental engineering, and bachelors degrees in construction management. As a key unit within the Steve Sanghi College of Engineering (SCE), we are currently leveraging a historic period of growth and transformation to align our curriculum and research with the cutting edge of technological innovation, aligned to our Mission “to create the next generation of ethical, work-ready, high-performance construction and civil and environmental engineering professionals.”
CECMEE faculty members benefit from a uniquely collaborative department where civil and environmental engineering theory meets the practical applications of construction management. Our department hosts multiple accredited programs and includes recognized and award-winning teachers who have extensive engineering, construction, and management experience, leading the drive toward Elevating Excellence, serving Arizona and the broader Southwest.
We seek candidates with a passion for teaching undergraduate students and who have recent and relevant engineering and/or construction industry experience. The primary duties will be in-person classroom teaching in the Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and/or Environmental Engineering (CECMEE) programs based on the candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs.
The successful candidate will be hired as a full-time, career track, benefit-eligible Assistant Professor of Practice or Lecturer, depending on qualifications. This is a nine-month academic year position which will start in the Fall of 2026 on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus, with potential of Spring 2027 start depending on candidate availability and search timeline.
This is a renewable position pending satisfactory job performance, availability of funding, and program need.
Faculty may have opportunities to teach additional coursework during the summer or winter sessions, depending on departmental needs and course availability. While off contract, faculty are also permitted to engage in employment outside the University, provided such work does not conflict with University policies or contractual obligations.
Assistant Professor of Practice
Lecturer
The successful candidate’s faculty appointment (Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice) and associated salary will be determined based on education level and relevant professional experience in the field of practice.
Salary range is $60,000 to $73,214. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
